Ingredients
- 50g (2oz) cocoa powder
- 250g (8oz) plain flour
- 250g (8oz) sugar
- 125g (4oz) vegan margarine
- 300ml (½ pint) soya milk
- 30ml (2 tbsp) golden syrup
- 5ml (1 tsp) bicarbonate of soda
- 15ml (1 tbsp) vegan margarine
- 15ml (1 tbsp) icing sugar
- 5ml (1 tsp) of golden syrup
- 1 x 100g vegan chocolate bar
- Mix soya milk and bicarbonate in a saucepan.
- Add margarine, syrup and melt together.
- Sieve all dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.
- Add the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly.
- Grease and line an 20cm (8") round cake tin.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin.
- Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 180°C / 350°F.
- Reduce heat to 160°C / 300°F for approximately 60 minutes. (if skewer comes out clean the cake is ready)
- For the icing melt ingredients slowly in a saucepan
- Allow to cool and spread over chocolate cake
